Morning run, cloudy, temp. 73'

My body told me that it needed an easy day today.  My first 3 miles that are slightly down hill I did in about 8:05 miles which was about right to get my body rested back up.  But the thought of getting over 8 minute mile average started bugging me so I had to pick up the pace.  8 is not a bad number.  I'm sure 7 wouldn't be offended if my mile average started with an 8.  I'll have to think about this some more so I can justify 8 minute average miles on my slow days.

Terry doing 8's for you is about like doing 9's for me. Usually my easy pace averages around 8:30 but some days (like today) for me something over 9 feels right, especially if I'm running alone. In fact today I may have averaged closer to 9:30, my legs were just worn out and needed a break.

So with that in mind I guess I better give you my blessing for 'occasionally' running 8+ pace. I'm pretty sure Sasha has no problem with it either based on past comments.

I often run a good portion of my mileage at slower than 8 pace. Usually because there is somebody with me that cannot or should not go faster at that time. But I am not in a hurry to drop them. Easy run should be easy, see the top list of training mistakes at the link above.
