Morning run, windy, temp 30-34'

I took a vacation from healthy eating and quality exercise the last week of vacation at Disneyland.  Donuts, candy, hamburgers, fries and about 3000 calories of peanut M&Ms probably are not good for jogging.

I woke up with a light headache and not much desire to go out into the winter weather.  Luckily the 8 min. man came along to taunt me.  The first six miles are up grade and the next two miles are level then 5.5 miles back down to home.  After one mile 8 was ahead, after two I was up but then he took over as the up grade plus wind held me back.  At mile six 8 was over a minute ahead and I thought I was pushing hard.  To many M&M's.  Luckily the rest of the way was back home and not against the wind.  I over took 8 just after mile nine and didn't have to worry about him again.

I was a little soar from Saturdays run and the bum-itis was complaining.  I wasn't sure I'd beat 8 this morning but after a few miles I loosened up enough to feel a little better.

Speed workout takes mental effort to keep telling yourself to run fast.  It's does not make for an enjoyable jog but when its over your sure happy.

I ran 2 miles fast at an average of 6:07.

My legs were pretty trashed after the last two fast days of running.  I almost didn't go but it looked nice outside.  I took it nice and easy.

Morning run, temp 40-45

Darcie decided we should do the School district 5K and Kids mile.  I ran 5.25 miles to the race that was on the Jordan River path.  My legs still weren't recoved from Wed & Thur.  There were about 100 runners in the 5K.  When the gun went off my legs hurt.  They didn't want to go fast.  Luckily after a quarter mile things stared lossening up.  After a quarter mile I was in about 10th, after a half mile I was in about 4th, and at the first mile marker I was in 2nd.  I followed a youngster that was about 16 until about a half mile left and then I poured it on and passed him with my final push speed.  He thought about staying with me for a short time and then faded.

Mile one 6:11

Mile two 6:29

Mile three 5:55

Cambrey my 16 year old got 1st in her age division.  There were only two.

Darcie (7) ran her mile in 10:15 (I ran with Darcie)

Kenna (4) ran her mile in about 11:30 (Taunia ran with Kenna)

I decided to do 4 quarter mile sprints with .75 miles of jogging between quarters.  My body didn't want to go fast.  It wasn't until the 4th quarter that I felt like I was in a good rythum. Quarters times were 82, 80, 77, & 75.

Morning run, sunny, temp 40-50'

I started out in Ephraim and my wife picked me up just north of Moroni.  It was a perfect morning for a run.  I saw baby calfs, lambs, turkeys, the birds were singing.  It was great!  We then stopped in Nephi at the One-Man-Band for breakfast.  Yum, Yum.

I also reflected on the good life of my highschool basketball coach Wilbur Braithwaite who's viewing I went to last night.  He is the kind of man that makes you want to be better.

Did 5 Qtr's with .75 mile jog inbetween.  First three were wind aided, next was cross wind and final into the wind. Qtrs were 74, 77, 76, 78, & 86.  After 5 miles I had a 7:01 mile avg. and I was tired so I coasted in.

Today after running 4 miles at about 7:55 miles which seemed hard enough, I started to get this dumb worry in my head that sub 7 miles would be very difficult for 13 miles at the Provo half.  I then decide to run a mile under 7 to see what it felt like and to see if I thought I could maintain the pace.  I ran a 6:50 but I wasn't sure if it felt like I could maintain it for 13.

I felt pretty good despite my highest weekly mileage yet this year.  On the down slope part of the run I decided to push it at between marathon & half marathon pace for a couple of miles.

Perfect day for an easy run.  Unfortunately, I realized as I was running and dreaming of winning my new AD I just upgraded to in the Provo Half this Saturday, that my Oldest sons is  graduating from Snow College also this Satuday.  I just found out about graduation and my brain hadn't connected the dots yet.

I don't know if I can take much more disappointment, 1st Tom bowes out of the race and now I can't even run it.

Coach Tom, how do I get rid of the Bum-itis.
