Morning run, rainy, temp. 48'

Our Wasatch Back relay team had a team run up Butterfield Canyon.  We had 7 members show up which I though was great considering the weather.

I ran with James and Brian.  Brian was only doing 4 miles and James and I were doing 10 miles.  Brian and James were going much faster than I'd have chosen but I decide to stay with them knowing it would only last for two miles.  After Brian turned back I slowed down plenty. James didn't like the slow pace but he didn't have much of a choice because he'd never been up the canyon and didn't have a Garmin.  James is 18 and on Bingham High track team. As we turned around to go back down the canyon James took a pit stop and I kept going.  He caught me with 1 mile left.  He was doing 4:55 mile avg. when he passed me.  I decided to keep up and after about a half a mile I was done but James's shoe came untied so I slowed way down and with about a quarter mile left James caught me again and the fast speed was on again.

I did about 8:45's up the canyon and about 6:25's down with the last mile in 5:45.

Taunia even came and did 5 miles in 55:00

A nice day for a run. I thought I'd go hard and see if I could beat Tom's 6 mile tempo run he did last week of 6:43 mile avg. so he would feel like it was hopeless to even try to beat me in a race. I ran hard but my 4th mile was in 7:04 and I couldn't get the wheels turning like I wanted. I ended up with a 6:43 avg. also. Maybe it is I that needs to start worrying. Dang Tom.

My left quad didn't like yesterdays faster running.  It feels strained or like it's had a cramp and it needs time to heal.  I wish I could push it without getting injured.  My Stake is running a 5K this weekend but I don't think I'll be able to push like I'd want to.

I ran 5 miles at 8 minute pace before the race.  Surprising everything felt good.

Unlike last couple of years of the stake race there was no real competition.  My competition became beating Tom's 5K tempo run in 19:50 he ran earlier this week.  After 2 miles I was just ahead of that pace but then I picked it up the last mile and ran a 6:00 even final mile.  Yeah!  I ran faster than Tom.  I did have an unfair advantage of being in a race compared to a tempo run.

5K Time 19:15

Also Dallas ran a 25:25

This is my last week at work and I've done a pretty good job of eliminating my position over the last month and a half.  I've shifted the work to about 10 people. So I don't have near as much to do this last week so I took a long jog.  I tested out the legs with a 8:20 1st mile and everything seemed ok so I picked up the pace a little.

Taunia PR'd her 3 mile training course this morning with a 29:53.  If here 1st mile wouldn't have been 11:16 she would have really made great time.

I was hoping to beat last weeks 6 mile tempo run by 5 seconds per mile but I only managed 1 second per mile.

I headed towards Butterfield Canyon and got within 2 miles before Taunia picked me up.  We then ran 5 miles in Butterfield Canyon together in 50:56.  Taunia then drove me within 3.5 miles of home and dropped me off.  I felt good today.  I might have been able to stay with Tom on his 20 miler.

Nice and hot. I thought it'd be a slow day cause I went to LDS employement meeting in the moring and then looked for a job in the afternoon and I was tired of it. But after I got out there I felt much better.

My brain was run down.  After trying to run one mile hard I couldn't get me brain to keep going, so I listed to my tired out brain.  It didn't help that I cleaned the new Oquirr mountain temple until 1AM last night, which was cool.

I ran the Ephraim Scandinavian Day 10K which ended up being a 5.47 mile run.  I ran ok but the runner that won was a freshman on the USU track team so he won by over 2 minutes.

Tanner, Dallas, and Taunia ran the 5K, Tanner got 5th with a 22:00, Dallas got 26 and Taunia 27.  Uncle Danny just beat Taunia by less than a block.

Time 35:16,  Mile avg. - 6:27 or about a 40 minute 10K.

I first ran 5.55 miles with Taunia around the Daybreak lake in 57.21 or 10:20 miles.  We probably walked about .35 miles of the run.

I then went out and did 10.2 miles.  The 1st 5 miles which is slightly uphill was in 7:27 mile average.  The last 5 miles coming back was in 6:48 mile avg.

Miles 10.2,  Time 1:10:27,  Mile avg. - 7:06
