I worked a lot of hours this week and didn’t get enough sleep so I wondered how I would do.  There were about 100+ people that ran the race.  I started off and was feeling good.  Weather was perfect.  Sunny and about 48’.  After a mile I was in 5th at two miles I was tied for 3rd.  2nd place was only about 20 yards ahead and 1st place was about 100 yards up.

I was really having a hard time fighting the guy on my shoulder that kept telling me to slow down.  He had some good arguments.  You’re old, your heart can’t take it, it hurts to much, what if you do try really hard and you still don't get 1st or 2nd place, etc...  With a half mile left there was a three way tie for 2nd place, that is when I finally got up the courage to push to the next pain level.  I dropped the runners with me only thinking of securing 2nd place but to my suprise I was catching on 1st place.  I passed him with about a block and a half and he didn't fight to stay with me.

Mile times 6:36, 6:37, 5:40 (.94 coverts to 6:02)
