Marathon relay morning.  Temp 60'

After the last two nights of getting less than 6 hours of sleep, I woke up tired but racing still felt like the fun thing to do.  I was on Matt's team.  I met all but one of our team members.  I had to go to a scout meeting at 8:30, so I had to leave right after running.  I would have liked to hang around awhile and talk but I wasn't to be.

I was our 1st runner.  They yelled GO and I was off.  I tried to start off easy and I thought I was but after about a third of a mile into the race I checked the garmin and I was sub 6.  It wasn't long after that, that I started to feel the pain of going fast.  I lost confidence mid way through the race when the pain levels get high.  I thought of all the reasons why I shouldn't run fast.  I slipped from 3rd place to 4th.  Mile 3 was my slowest.  Then I toughened back up and got going again.  I moved into 3rd place and stayed their the rest of the way.

For the rest of my teams great effort see Matts blog

Terry thanks again for your help. You were awesome. I just finished my little write up. I have finisher’s medals but I am also trying to figure out if we got 1st place ones for the mixed division. I will let you know when I do and drop it by. Todd still hasn't published the official results. I am kind of guessing they won't break it out by legs because without the band they probably weren't keeping track. It was a lot of fun. I'll talk to you soon and enjoy the re retirement.
