Morning run, snowy, breezy, temp. 36'

Dallas had a soccer game inside the Olympic Oval at 7:30am.  So I got up at 6:30 and headed north to the Oval.  It was snowing the entire time with about 2-3 inches on the ground.  Unfortunalty,  the wind was blowing from the north so I was running into the snow.  It was 6.85 miles to the Oval and then I ran a lap on the track inside the building with a fiend I saw running then watched the Soccer game.  Dallas's team was well ahead so I left early and had Taunia pick me up on the way back. I got my 40 miles in for the week.  I'm hoping I can get 40 per week through December.

As captain of the relay team, it's great to see your consistent training. As Tom's friend, it's difficult to see his goal of catching you becoming ever more difficult.

Are your sure it's safe running with fiends? Webster defines a fiend as "a person of great wickedness or maliciousness". Of course, an alternate definition is "a person extremely devoted to a pursuit". Using that definition, I'd have to say there are a lot of running fiends on the blog. Tom is definitely among them, and it seems clear he's out to get you.

Enjoy the Garmin. I've logged nearly 2500 miles on my Garmin 201. What I've enjoyed most is how it's freed me up to run wherever I want and still know how far and how fast I went. Getting my Garmin really helped me get back into running. Joining the blog was another significant boost. With both the Garmin and the blog working for you, in addition to your natural talent and many years of experience, I'm afraid Tom's really got his work cut out for him.

Paul, I didn't even know what a fiend was. Thanks for the definition.

I'm really enjoying the freedom of the Garmin. It is not helping Tom's cause of catching up to me.

Actually, my current thinking is that if I get in pretty good shape I think it would be difficult for Tom to beat me in anything of half marathon distance or less. However, the marathon is just a little to far for me and I think if Tom gets in great shape he may be able to take me, but of course I'll do my best not to make it easy.

In a dog race the dogs don't generally catch the rabbit, but it does keep them focused and makes them run faster. I guess you're Tom's rabbit, and he's now becoming mine.
