Sunny, temp. mid-60's

I thougth I had eaten enough and hydrated well but something just wasn't working with me today.  I don't think it helped that I worked 12-13 hours the last couple of days.  Usually, when I start a race I'm happy, my mind is alert and ready for a fun race, but today my brain was useless.  No mojo, no fight.  I hope this doesn't happen at SG in a couple of weeks or Mr. Lee may have a chance.

Anyway, the race started and I could tell I was struggling but I my legs weren't tired so I pushed on.  I ran in 3rd place the entire race.  After 2 miles I was only 10 yards behind first place.  After 3 miles first place was putting more distance between me and second place.  I was hoping my body would eventually kick in and start fighting but it never did.  By mile 8 I had let the second place guy ahead of me by about 200 yards.  It was then that I decided that I didn't care if my brain didn't want to be clear and happy and energetic, I was going to take second place.  Getting close to mile 10 I was about 50 yards behind second and closing and then my quad on my left leg started cramping up.  I then gave up the fight and walked for a little bit and coasted in for 3rd place.

My last years time of 1:25:59 would have won the race by a minute.

Probably just one of those days Terry, always ways a bummer when it hits on race day. Still a respectable time, if I'm remembering correctly this isn't a particularly fast course.

A very nice showing! I thought I recognized you, but I was too chicken to say anything. Serves me right.

Lets hope, for both our sakes, SGM is a better day than this "honest" course!

Congrats on your placing.
