Morning run, temp. 55'

Great morning for a run.  Ever since the SLC half and then giving blood a couple of days after I've never seemed to fully recover.  Always feel a little tired.  This morning was no different but I wanted to do at least one mile fast.  I did the last mile in 6:20.  It felt good but I still felt more worn down than I should.  Maybe I'm getting old.

Time 40:23,  Mile avg. - 7:28

My Stake held it's semi-annual 5K race at 8AM.  The temperature was ideal.  Maybe around 50' with just a slight breeze out of the south.  When I arrived I could see there wouldn't be any competition.  None of the highschool kids or college kids that sometimes come and may beat me.  Nonetheless, I wanted to see what I could do.  I was hoping for a 18:59.

1st mile (6:00) - Nice on track.  This mile is level.  Nobody even close to me after this mile.

2nd mile (6:20) - This mile has a very steep but short hill in it that you have to go up and then down another street.

3rd mile (6:16) - I was hoping for under 6:10.  The fact that this is a cheesy race with only about 30-40 people in it didn't help me push the pace.  I let the evil slow down guy in my head speak to loudly.

All in all, I'll take the 19:10, knowing that if I push myself a little more and do a little more speed training that I could go sub 19.

I ran a mile or so before the race and then another easy 7 miles in the afternoon after finishing the yard work.
