Noon run, sunny, temp 50'

Ok, I missed running for 7 days.  My longest stretch since Jan 1-8th.  I was working 12 hour days the 4 days before I went on vacation and the vacation to Disneyland didn't help my lack of sleep to much.  So I tried to sleep instead of run.  If our hotel had a treadmill I'm sure I would have put in a few miles.

Anyway, it was nice to run again today.

I ran the same route as yesterday but today I had to push it a little more and my time was a little slower.  I guess taking 7 days off has some effects.  I think my body needs to detox from all the candy, chips, and hamburgers I ate on vacation.

Morning run, 6 miles pre sun 4 miles with sun.  Temp 35'

I woke up at 6:30 and tried to watch the Olympic Marathon trials but my computer wasn't smart enough to show it to me.  So I went out for a run.  My Tendon-bumitis was acting up a bit.  I wanted to run one fast mile but it didn't feel right so I settled for a semi-fast mile of 6:45.  My hamstings seem to do better when I run every day.  No more long layoffs.

It is hard to run fast in the dark, however I was pleased with this workout.  I did my 2 mile tempo run and I though since I worked 13 hours the day before and ate a couple of candy bars at work and then came home and finished dinner off with some ice cream that my workout might suffer, but I ran the first mile in 6:00 and the second mile in 5:53.  Hopefully my work schedule will mellow out so I don't have to eat two candybars a day for mental sanity.

My friend the moon made an appearance just about half way through the run.  Also, I had a little foot pain in my arch on my right foot that hit me just a couple hundred yards into my run.  It felt more like a cramped up muscle than PF.  It slowly went away after a few miles.

It was nice to run at lunchtime after running in the dark the last 3 mornings.  I was hoping the run would take all my stress away but it didn't quite get it all.  Maybe I just need a weekend.

Morning run, Breezy, Temp 50'

This was my first 40+ miles/week since August.   If I'm going to run a marathon on my Birthday  in April next year I've got to start putting in more 40+ mile weeks.  This morning I felt great and I started running good right from the start.  I averaged 7:30 miles on the 1st 5 miles that are slightly up hill, then I turned around and ran a 6:13, 6:18, 6:24.  After 3 fast miles my legs told me that it would be wise to slow down,  The legs were starting to hurt.  I really didn't want to slow down because I was on pace to do sub 7 minute miles, but way back in the background I could faintly hear Sasha telling me to do the smart thing.  I slowed down a bit and my legs thanked me.  Today I didn't feel old until mile 8.  Also, the back was hurting a lot last night but it was gone for this mornings run.  Lucky.

My legs were feeling pretty good for giving them a little abuse Saturday.  I wasn't ready for a tempo run but maybe tomorrow I will be ready.

I have a good wife, she got up with the child that was throwing up last night.

Morning run, dark, windy, temp 45'

I went out and did a 2 mile tempo run.  The 1st mile was in 6:17 against the wind and the 2nd mile was 5:59 wind aided.  For some reason I just couldn't get into the tempo run near as much as last week.

No run

My back hurt all day yesterday but I still set my alarm to run this morning.  At about 3:30 by youngest daughter that was throwing up last night said "Daddy, Kitchen" which being interpreted is "feed me now".  My back was still hurting as I was feeding her so I adjusted my alarm and slept in.  I'm guessing my core muscles are just a little to week for the 40+ miles a week.  I'll have to incorporate a few new excersizes.

I took some drugs last night and decided I'd try a run this morning.  My back was aching just a little but it lossened up after a few miles or the natural running induced drugs kicked in.

Morning run with the Tom & the Spanish Fork runners & Paul & Kerry, cloudy, Temps 45-50.

It was Tom's birthday suprise breakfast after the run that Kim was hosting.  It was great to see the excited Spanish Fork runners at 6AM in the dark.  Runners are crazy.  Now I know why Tom always gets chicked on his morning runs because Jamie & Michelle are darn fast.  For me I had 2 highlights of the run.  One of them was when Tom & myself ran some 7:30 miles.  I never thought I'd see the day when Tom could kick out some fast miles where I felt I was getting a good workout.  The other highlight was having the female duo of M&J lead the way in front of about 10 men.

Breakfast at Kim's was great.  I ate enough food to keep me going tell dinner.

On the way home from Tom & Kim's I saw our wards Turkey Bowl going on.  I stopped and played for an hour.  I didn't have quite the speed as normal.  Wonder why?  My back started aching just a little near the end of the run.  Hoping it will go away totally soon.

No Idea how fast we ran.

Morning run, breezy, temp. 50'

My legs were very sore yesterday and this morning.  Saturdays 13 mile run, flag football, rooftop Christmas light hanging and tilling the garden all added up to sore legs.  I took it easy this morning and it hurt the whole way.  I'm not sure if I'll be up for my Tuesday tempo run.  May have to delay it a day.

The run felt good when I was running with the wind and the sun was out but it was pretty cold when I was running against the wind and the clouds were in control.  My legs were still a little stiff, nothing like yesterday.  I ran the 1st few miles around 7:30 miles but I could tell it was a little fast for a recovery type run so I slowed down a little.

Noon run, Temp 35'

I forgot I promised to take the kids for a couple of hours around lunch time so that Taunia could got to lunch with some old highschool friends or I would have run in the morning.  The plan was to push one in the jogging stroller and let the 5 year old bike to the park.  Then run around the 1/2 mile park course a few times while they played.  But the slides had snow on them and it didn't seem right to leave them even though I wouldn't be to far away.   Oh well, hopefully I can keep Kim from Chicking me on mileage this week even without much of a run today.  Also, I still have not recovered fully from Saturdays abuse so I didn't feel to bad about not running much today.

Thanksgiving morning run, mostly sunny, temp 30'

Yesterday afternoon a new running friend showed up at my front door step.  I call him/her? Garmin 205.  What a friend.  Garmin tells me how fast I'm running how far etc...  Cool!  Anyway I jogged down to the Bingham High track and meet my family that drove their.  We jogged a few laps and then split up in teams an had a soccer game.  After that they drove home and I took the long way home with Garmin even though my legs weren't feeling all that great.

Noon run in St. George,  Temp 48'

After Dallas's 9:00am soccer game we went and visited Grandma and then went to the outlet stores.  I changed into my jogging outfit and me and Garmin went for a run.  I headed south to the river and found a jogging trail and headed to the west end of town where our hotel is.  The turkey dinner the day before must have been the thing to get my legs feeling better.  I had a good run.

Morning run, St. George, Temp 37'

My good freind the moon was out for the morning run.  Maybe being at a lower elevation helps my running because I felt good again today.  Went and jogged the river path on an out and back run.

Dallas's team won their second game on Friday and needed to win their Saturday morning game to go to the finals but they lost 1-0.  Oh well it gave us just enough time to drive to Ephraim and head up the canyon and cut down a christmas tree and get home at 9:30pm.

Morning run, moon, temp 30'

Garmin told me my morning run that I thought was 6.1 was only 6 and the 2 mile tempo runs I've been doing the last couple of months in the morning are probably 5-10 seconds short per mile.  And that means that Tom is 5-10 seconds closer to my mile times than I thought.  Truth and reality are good.

My first tempo run with Garmin.  I decided I'd do a 3 mile tempo run.  I'm not use to using a watch to tell me how far I've gone but I did a 6:08, 6:20, & 6:14 for a 6:14 mile avg. on the tempo run.  I was hoping to get closer to 6 evens.

Not much pep in the legs today.  Headed south from the office and ran around the neighborhoods.  I'm trying to get 40 miles for the week so I did over 8 miles, which means that I only need 10 for tomorrow.  Its much harder to get 40 in when you miss a day.
