Riverton half, mostly sunny, very windy, temp. 35-40

I realy enjoyed the course. I liked that it was only 10 minutes from my home. To bad the wind had to blow so hard. I held back a little because I'm going to run another half marathon next week and I didn't know what kind of shape I was in due to the lack of speed work I've been doing. The race was much more enjoyable holding back just a little. The last two miles I decided to let loose and really run. My tendon-bum-itis didn't like that to much.

It was good seeing RivertonPaul, Walter, Shimelle and husband, Peggy and I think Annette Lynnette that was running with her. Miles are as follows

1 - 6:44 I ran with Peggy & Lynnette for the first 3 miles.  They were the perfect pace so I wouldn't go out to fast.

2 - 6:56

3 - 7:09 20:48

4 - 7:02

5 - 7:16 Against the wind miles 5-8

6 - 7:40 42:46

7 - 7:33 The desire to really kick into the next gear and push hard was still there in my old age.  I suppressed it until the last two miles.  I need to get into better shape before I can really push a half marathon like I want to.

8 - 7:35

9 - 6:51 1:04:45

10- 7:15

11- 6:48

12- 6:29 1:25:17

13- 6:13 Down hill

13.1 - 1:32:22          Mile avg. - 7:03  10th overall, 3rd in Age Div.

Great to meet you. Great preparation for you next week. I also need to speedwork, but at least training is going forward.

Great job for holding back, dang you are fast!

(Oh, and it is Lynette you saw with Peggy.)

You amaze me! I was so impressed when I saw you running back up to your car. Way to go!

Good job!

Nice job old man! Hope you didn't use it all up on this race, it would be a shame if you weren't in peak form next week. But of course regardless I know I could never beat the great Terry Bean! :)

Nice race, Terry. I'd be thrilled with a 1:32 at the Provo City half this weekend. I'll be happy to break 1:40. I'm behind where I was last year in my training, but at least things are headed in the right direction.

It will be good to see you and Tom Saturday, even if it is only before and after the race. I won't be seeing much of you during the race, except maybe your backs as you pull away at the start.

We sure miss the two of you and wish you were back on the relay team. Cory's out because of his foot, and Scott B. and Greg W. have conflicts and won't be able to run with us this year. Tom's already made some lame excuse about being out of the country that weekend. If your other plans haven't materialized, we'd certainly welcome you back with open arms. If you know of anyone who is interested and would be a good fit for our team, please let us know.

Enjoy the cold running this week (sarcasm). I hope the weather improves for Saturday.
