Race day conditions were pretty good.  Temps in the upper 30's, sunny, & low wind.  The course is a big loop that has a few hills as you go in out out of the river bottom.

This was my first race in over a 1.5 years.  Trying to get back in shape after surgery and injuries.  I was thinking before the race that getting a time under 1:40 would make me feel like I wasn't getting to decrepit.

The race was off and I felt pretty good.  I was worried about my legs would cramping up because it had happened a couple of times on my longer runs the last months and many times on prior marathons.  I kept pace honest but held back just a little.  At the end my legs held strong and my cramping worries were for naught.  I ended up missing my goal by 1 second.

Miles 1-4 (7:10, 7:25, 7:35, 7:55)

Miles 5-8 (7:10, 7:40, 7:40, 7:40)

Miles 9-13 (7:55, 7:45, 7:50, 8:05, 7:35)
