Sawmill lake to Kings Peak and back,  mostly cloudy, windy at times, Temp 40-70

I wasn't one of the leaders so I headed off on my own to Kings Peak.  I left at 7am.  I had visions of myself bounding up the beautiful mountian country like a deer or a mountian goat at an easy jog.  I don't know if the prior days hike or the less than perfect running fuel from the prior day or the high altitude or the rocks in the trail was slowing me down but I didn't go as fast or have the energy that I was hoping for.

It was, however, a beatiful run through the mountain meadows and up and over the passes to get to Kings Peak.  I saw deer and moose and other critters.  Kings Peak was fogged in when I got to it and I didn't want to wait to see if the clouds would blow away.  About 25 minutes after I left the clouds did clear for a little while.  I saw an old Ephraim freind, David Squire with his sons on the trail.  I got back about 1:30pm.  I was hungry and thirsty.  I took two water bottles but I would have liked another one.

Don't try to talk me into the wasatch 100.  The Kings Peak 22 was enough.

Holy smokes Terry 22 miles at altitude!? Were you planning on running a near marathon when you started out or did you misjudge the distance?

Sounds like it was an awesome run, I'll bet the scenery and everything was quite a treat. Wish I could have been there.

We don't need to do a 100-miler unless we make it to 100. But we do need to do a 50-miler at 50 (but it doesn't need to be at 11000 ft)
