Morning run, temp 70'

I woke up with a headache and wanted to stay in bed but I didn't.  It is still dark now when I start my runs which isn't near as fun.  The 1st 3 miles my back and legs ached a little and I just wanted a pillow so I could lay down and sleep.  My body finally woke up alittle and I picked up the pace about 30 seconds per mile the last 3 miles.  Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for a run.

Morning run, breezy, temp 72'

On my way to Bingham highs track to do a 3 mile tempo run  I could tell I was tired and there wasn't any spring in my step.  I considered just doing a easy run and try the tempo run tomorrow but luckily I talk myself into running a tempo run even if it would be slow.  I like to run the 3 mile tempo run at 6 minutes even but I thought that if I did 6:15's today it would be a good day.  It was a hot morning but luckily the big infield sprinklers were on and they hit me about every other time around the track which felt good even though my shoes and socks got a little wet.  I ran a 6:05, 6:15, 6:03.  I enjoy the speedworkouts at the track much more when it is light enough to see.  Oh well that short season only lasts a month or two.

Noon run, sunny, breezy, temp. 90+

I was low on desire to run today so I took it easy and kept it short.  I'm going backpacking with the scouts tomorrow.  Hopefully, I'll get in some mountian running.

Henrys Fork Basin in the Unita's  Temp 70-80

We arrived at the Henry's Fork Tailhead with our scout group about 10am and back packed in about 8 miles.  The elevation increased from about 9400 to 10700 over the 8 miles.  Our group split into two as we hiked up.  We waited for the 2nd group and they wern't coming so I did actually get in about a mile jog to find them.  I'm counting it as 5 miles of running.

Sawmill lake to Kings Peak and back,  mostly cloudy, windy at times, Temp 40-70

I wasn't one of the leaders so I headed off on my own to Kings Peak.  I left at 7am.  I had visions of myself bounding up the beautiful mountian country like a deer or a mountian goat at an easy jog.  I don't know if the prior days hike or the less than perfect running fuel from the prior day or the high altitude or the rocks in the trail was slowing me down but I didn't go as fast or have the energy that I was hoping for.

It was, however, a beatiful run through the mountain meadows and up and over the passes to get to Kings Peak.  I saw deer and moose and other critters.  Kings Peak was fogged in when I got to it and I didn't want to wait to see if the clouds would blow away.  About 25 minutes after I left the clouds did clear for a little while.  I saw an old Ephraim freind, David Squire with his sons on the trail.  I got back about 1:30pm.  I was hungry and thirsty.  I took two water bottles but I would have liked another one.

Don't try to talk me into the wasatch 100.  The Kings Peak 22 was enough.

Sawmill to Henry's fork tail head, cloudy, Temp. 60'

It was about 7 miles to the trail head and almost all down hill.  We went at a fast pace for backpacking and made it in 1:50.  My quads were a bit soar from the Kings Peak run yesterday.
